Cyanoacrylates are single part, fast curing adhesives commonly referred to as ‘superglue’s’ due to their rapid speed of bond. They are ideal for bonding and repairing small, close fitting pieces and components. They produce excellent tensile strength but generally have poor peel and impact strength.

NCH Partsmaster offers a complete range including; standard grades capable of bonding metals, hard plastics and rubbers and high performance grades capable of bonding difficult materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene and silicone rubber.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives produce an initial bond in a few seconds. However full mechanical strength is only achieved after 12 hours; ultimately time versus bond strength is dependent upon local humidity, surface preparation is also important.

To assist with surface preparation NCH Partsmaster offer a surface activator (Mega Speed) and surface primer (see Mega Firm Plus). Mega Speed assists the curing process on larger gaps, porous surfaces and thicker deposits, by speed curing the adhesive. The surface primer contained in Mega Firm Plus change the surface tension of the material being bonded, allowing the adhesive to penetrate the surface of very soft, waxy materials, typically PP,PE, and silicone rubber.

Typical applications of Cyanoacrylates include; small plastic parts, o ring bonding, mitre joint bonding (wood or plastic) and metal bonding (general and ferrite magnets).
